LIBERTY is a contact sport

"Conservatism is the antithesis of the kind of ideological fanaticism that has brought so much horror and destruction to the world. The common sense and common decency of ordinary men and women, working out their own lives in their own way -- this is the heart of American conservatism today. Conservative wisdom and principles are derived from willingness to learn, not just from what is going on now, but from what has happened before."

"A democracy is two wolves and a small lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Freedom under a constitutional republic is a well armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin

"One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It's very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project. ... Now, the American people, if you put it to them about socialized medicine and gave them a chance to choose, would unhesitatingly vote against it." --Ronald Reagan

Konall: New Vertiform City, United States; King of the Brotherhood of Young Ancient Kelts

View my complete profile

"It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy." -- George Orwell, 1984, chapter one

“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.”

-Thomas Paine

“The only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant.” John Stuart Mill, “On Liberty”, 1859

"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

Winston Churchill

"I want the people of America to be able to work less for the

government and more for themselves. I want them to have the rewards of their own

industry. This is the chief meaning of freedom. Until we can reestablish a

condition under which the earnings of the people can be kept by the people, we

are bound to suffer a very severe and distinct curtailment of our liberty."

--President Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)

He who does not punish evil commands it to be done."
--Leonardo da Vinci)
