Washington will not be able to fill that void in medical innovation because government command and control of health care is incapable of fostering innovation. Countries with government-controlled (socialized) medicine have proven that government is only capable of limiting patient access to care (rationing) or setting artificial prices (price-fixing), both of which stifle innovation, reduce patient access, and lead to lower quality of care.
